KCMS Food Service

For the past two school years, all students in our district have enjoyed free school lunches, thanks to funding provided at the state level. This program has been a tremendous benefit for our students and families, ensuring that every child has access to healthy meals each school day.At this time, the State of Michigan has not yet finalized the budget for the upcoming school year. As a result, it is unclear whether funding for universal free school lunches will be included for the entire 2025–2026 school year.Currently, the State’s free school breakfast and lunch program is funded through September 30, which marks the end of Michigan’s fiscal year. This means all students will continue to receive free breakfast and lunch at the start of the school year.Providing nutritious meals at no cost to families remains a high priority for our district. Weare actively advocating for the continuation of this program. We will keep families updated as soon as we receive more information from the state. In the meantime, we encourage all families to complete the Education Benefit Form, which may help ensure continued eligibility should universal free lunch funding not be renewed. You can access the form at https://kentcity.familyportal.cloud/Thank you for your understanding, patience, and support as we work to provide the very best for our students.

If you have and questions or concerns, please contact Beth Ohman, FSD. 616-678-4214 x 2105 or beth.ohman@kentcityschools.org
