Schools of Choice Plans for the 2026-27 School Year

There are many options for a quality education within Kent ISD and other state ISDs. Our Schools of Choice plans are designed to provide the best possible education for the vast majority of families who choose their home district while accommodating those who would like to transfer to another school.

To complete the Schools of Choice & Non-Resident Applications for the 2026-27 school year, use this LINK. Upon approval, you will receive an email regarding your next steps in the enrollment process. 

Kent Intermediate School District Schools of Choice Plan

Kent City Schools will have 10 slots total available for each grade, K - 12, for the 2026-27 school year. This plan would include the acceptance of pupils from districts within the boundaries of the Kent ISD (in-county residents). Applications for this program will be accepted as follows: 

April 13 - May 15, 2026 at 4:00 PM               Application Period

If spots are still available after the initial application period, Kent City Community Schools will continue to accept applications until 4pm on August 24th. 

Families, please note: The Kent ISD Schools of Choice plan is a lottery-oriented system, not a first-come, first-served one.

Section 105c State Schools of Choice Plan

In addition to the Kent ISD Schools of Choice plan, the Kent City Community Schools District is participating in the Section 105c State Schools of Choice Plan. This would include the acceptance of pupils from districts within boundaries of ISDs that are contiguous to Kent ISD (residents of Allegan, Barry ISD, Ionia, Montcalm, Muskegon, Newaygo, or Ottawa school district). 

Application window for 105c has closed. Non-Resident applications are still being accepted.

Kent City Schools will have limited slots available for the 2026-27 school year.

Non-Resident Release

Non-Resident Release request forms are available for students that do not live within the Kent City Community Schools boundaries but are interested in attending Kent City Community Schools after the School of Choice/105c window closes.  This Non-Resident Release Application is valid for the current school year only.
