Kent City Alternative Education High School

Kent City Alternative Education High School had a new look and feel as we started the 2012-2013 school year. Newly hired teacher McPherson Mroz has created a sense of excitement to the classroom while instilling collective goals. Registered students have the opportunity to regain credits lost in a comfortable, organized and clean environment, at their own pace. All school work is accomplished through the Education 2020 Online program. Progress is tracked, monitored and maintained one class at a time in order to identify any problems, ensuring student success. On top of completing the required classes in order to graduate, students have committed themselves to the prevention of any behavior problems and improving ACT scores throughout the school year.

After the first semester there was substantial improvement in both credit recovery and behavior. There are multiple students on track to resubmit into Kent City High School at the beginning of next year due to their success. Additionally, we have multiple students now on track to graduate on time or early. We have already had one student finish his requirements and graduate. Behavior has been a non factor in the Alternative High School as well. With only three Behavior Intervention Reports the first semester, we are expecting the total to remain well below any total from previous school years.

We are excited about the new direction and looking forward to the continued successful results. We are always looking to use our program to benefit those in need of finishing their high school requirements or in need of a fresh start.
